Psychoanalytic therapeutic and supervision groups in Staffordshire
I am trained to post-graduate group-work practitioner level with the Institute of Group Analysis. I can offer a number of therapeutic group packages, and also supervision, work-discussion or reflective practice groups to carers and professionals working with children – particularly foster carers, school and residential home teams.
Therapeutic groupwork
Often offered as part of a schools support package, I can work with groups of up to 8 children or young people using creative materials and talking together to work on social communication, mind-mindedness, social relationships, co-produced emotional support, and working through and sharing big feelings together. Groups for adolescents have included groups tailored around grief (the loss of a peer), LGBTQI related topics, neurodiversity, and post-crisis support. Groups can be tailored to individual needs. We work with the group dynamics in a live way, similarly to individual therapy – the dynamics in the group will hopefully reflect some of the un-worked through relational difficulties group members have experienced in their lives, and can be worked through together in the moment, and over time.
Reflective practice groups
I can offer remote, and in person reflective practice groups for foster-carers, residential carers, school staff and professional networks around the child. These can be regular or as needed. In these groups, examples of observations of children are brought and we work together to formulate a potential meaning and understanding of the child’s internal (emotional world) and external experience so that the team around a child can better respond to the child’s communications and needs. We will also consider the group dynamics at play in the setting and how the child impacts and is impacted upon by their environment.
